Halpatiokee Regional Park
This Martin County Park is Airborne's first successful venture into securing and developing a legal trail system specifically for the mountain Bike. Thanks to Martin County Parks & Rec. Dept. and our dedicated club members we have a trail system of over 7 miles at present and have been involved in the future parks planning process which will change the existing trails (unfortunately) but also greatly improve what we do have, and provide more mileage, improved camping, parking, access and other outdoor activities like trail running, kayak and canoe use, and hiking.

Directions:
Take I-95 to the Stuart exit and go north to Lost River Rd. Or, take SR 76
to Lost River Rd. Follow the signs to the park.  Go all the way to the back, we usually ride from the parking by Pavillion #7.  There is cold water and restroom facilities.

The trail head & directional signs :
It's not so easy to you know you are there.
You can park at Pavillion #7 in the back, east end. Ride around the triangular shaped retention area and look for a big metal gate. There's singletrack which bypasses it to the right. Enter there, ride to the first 'road' hang a right and look for the tagged trail to your left. It's pretty easy to follow the tags now. If you see this bridge, you are definitely in the wrong place - we are not supposed to ride the old river trail which is hiking only. We are constantly inquiring about and pushing for a dozen or so directional signs to be placed at critical interesections. Time takes time, so we will have them, probably later than sooner. In the meantime, more surveyor's tape can be found along the route, and also tiny orange flags in the ground in the open spaces.

Camping:
At the present time there is primitive camping at the Boat Launch.  Group Camping can be reserved by calling Martin County Parks & Recreation Dept - 772-221-1420.  They will require you come to the Parks Dept (Monterey Rd, just south of Ocean Blvd, Stuart) and fill out the forms.  There is no charge. No facilities at the campsites except tables and fire-rings. You have to bring everything in with you.

Facilities:
The north section of the park has 'everything'... Baseball fields, soccer fields, hockey arena, paved paths, bathroom facilities, cold drinking fountains, playgrounds, tennis courts, kayak rentals, a nearby put-in at Hosford Park (that park also has dog park facilities), and of course the pavilions.  Pavilions are free, again, you have to go to the Park and Rec offices and fill out the forms.  The screened Pavilion is $50 for the day.

Trail Map : Thanks to the efforts of many people, but especially Tony and the Tiki's, Gregg, and Mike Y. We now have a GPS'd official Martin County approved map for the park. It's just a click away!
